The tinyurl is good for when you have really, really long url's you wish to shorten. There is no need to use them as a matter of routine. Also, people are less likely to blindly follow a url if they can't see where it is pointed (hovering over formatted url's still show the full address in the browser status bar). Sort of a security blanket thingy. :) Hmm ... I'm after a new TV, might have trouble fitting that screen on the TV stand though :p |

There is more information here (forums.pcworld.co.nz) about it. Note, that is just a generic list and PF1 doesn't support all those vB codes listed there. Example anyway: here (forums.pcworld.co.nz) is actually written like this: [u r l=http://forums.pcworld.co.nz/misc.php?do=bbcode#url]here[/url] (note I have put extra white spaces in the first url part to prevent the forum automatically formatting it). You can also use the Insert Hyperlink icon above your message box, it is the icon that looks like a blue circle with a paperclip in front of it. Click on that, enter the text you wish to be displayed eg "here", click OK and then enter in the url web address. |
