333917 2005-03-14 09:27:00 There's a trial version of Cashbook Complete on a recent PC World CD.
Put "accounting software" into the forum Search for Sleepy's 10 thread on this very subject.
Those discussed aren't free, but you'll get some idea of their differences..
As Prescott said - what do you want it to do?

333918 2005-03-14 09:37:00 kiwitas,

Prescott and Laura are correct when you need to specify what you want the Accounting software to do, although a lot of Accounting software are generically suited to businesses and not specialised so a lot of them can do what you want but would you want Console based or GUI type.

I think I'll search these forums for things related to accounting on here, since I'm currently working on a new open source project to improve the business software on linux, as I feel what's out there, just doesn't compare to what Windows has.

Also MYOB is quite expensive, depending on the number of users/computers you will have using it. I just want to write an accounting package that may or may not be better than MYOB, and if the latter, I would hope it wasn't too far off though and still suited to many needs, especially for the lack of business software on linux.

333921 2005-03-15 00:11:00 I posted on this question a couple of years ago. Here: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz There might be something helpful.

Ultimately the club purchased Cashmanager. I tried a free version but it would not support multiple accounts.
