333759 2005-03-14 00:30:00 Anyone got a step by step how to do this?
I used to have a manual when I 1st got Sky but lost it in a house move.
I had a couple of failed attempts ages ago where either the volume was so low it couldn't be heard or the channel skipped!

Sky is on AV1. DVD/XBox on AV2 and video on x0
many thanks all - sick of missing programs!

333760 2005-03-14 00:36:00 put video on whatever channel sky is set to on the video, change sky to whatever channel you want, press record. tweak'e (69)
333761 2005-03-14 00:43:00 thanks tweak'e

another dumb question alert.
How do I suss out what channel sky is set to on the video.
I've turned the video on about twice in the 2 years I've had it (together with sky!)

I can program a computer but videos have me beat!!
Warning - once I have this sussed I intend to return and ask about setting timer for unattended recording!

333762 2005-03-14 00:49:00 turn sky on, turn tv to video channel, then flix through video channels till you find the one with sky on it. it also could be on AV1, video or input if connected via av leads.

don't ask. there is to many different videos and they are all have different setups. read the manual or call a tech.

333763 2005-03-14 01:05:00 cheers again.
No doubt I'll have the attended taping sussed now.
I wasn't going to ask about how to set the timer on the video - more like ask about any things to be aware of when taping from sky.

I had a failed attempt before. Set the timer set the channel, turned the tv off went back to work, came home and at the point where I turned the tv off the volume had gone down about 8 notches and been replaced with a hum sound!

333764 2005-03-14 01:17:00 only catches are making sure the sky volume is up before you record it (otherwise you will record it with no sound) and hide the remote so others don't chnge the channel/volume you are recording.

at the point where I turned the tv off the volume had gone down about 8 notches and been replaced with a hum sound! possible the tv/video is setup incorrectly, ie you where recording the AV output of the tv instead of the sky output.

333765 2005-03-14 01:36:00 ok I'll have a stab!
tooooo many remotes. Not sure how to check if I'm recording av output or sky! but I'm guessing that if the tv is on the video channel and sky is on tyhe screen then I'd be taping the sky output?

Maybe (sound problem before) was that the tv volume was up high (when watching thru) video but sky volume was low. I keep meaning to stop using the sky remote volume and just stick to the tv remote for the master volume.

333766 2005-03-14 01:41:00 Its better if u find a spare channel on the tv and tune sky in with the sky remote.

It sounds like you're just connecting the video to the tv, from the video out on the video, to the tv's video in (AV1), this will take u nowhere.

If this is how you've done it, there wont be any signal from the sky decoder to the video to record from....

Coz the way you've done it now, u cant change channels on sky with the sky remote can u??

333767 2005-03-14 01:59:00 Its better if u find a spare channel on the tv and tune sky in with the sky remote. impossible, i just don't bend that way :D. you can't tune sky in on the tv with the sky remote

It sounds like you're just connecting the video to the tv, from the video out on the video, to the tv's video in (AV1), this will take u nowhere. that is fine, video would be on the AV. sky will need to RF or AV2

Coz the way you've done it now, u cant change channels on sky with the sky remote can u?? if you can see a sky channel you can change sky channels with the sky remote.

Not sure how to check if I'm recording av output or sky!
record sky then change tv channel. play video back, if the sky recording changes to the tv channel you switched to then your recoding the TV AV output. check video dosn't have another AV input or sky tuned on another channel on the video.

Yes u can I've done it :D

You DON'T have to use the AV channel to use Sky.
