2008-03-06 05:21:00 | You have an ECS motherboard. Well that explains all your problems in a simple, short, 3 letter word(?) Ok but being serious here, are you sure you have IDE HDD? can you check the model number of your drive in device manager? Yeah, pretty sure its IDE. "IDE\DISKSAMSUNG_HD321KJ______...." And what do you mean by that :S ? - You have an ECS motherboard. Well that explains all your problems in a simple, short, 3 letter word(?)

2008-03-06 06:23:00 | For the record, that drive model is SATA, not IDE: www.samsung.com ECS are well known as being one of the worst brands of motherboards... It was kind of a joke to say that your problems are caused by the fact you have an ECS, but it may not be completely wrong either... Have you tried running that diagnostic program?

2008-03-06 06:54:00 | Interesting, I have been reading up on how nForce 4 chipsets can corrupt data under heavy load, mainly on Maxtor drives.. But that got me thinking, if the SATA is overclocked slightly, you can get corruption problems also If you go into the BIOS setup, can you find an option anywhere (probably under advanced chipset settings or tweaking) called "SATA Spread Spectrum"? if so, try setting to "Down Spread" if it's not already.

2008-03-10 06:23:00 | To run the samsung drive diagnostic and test your drive, follow these steps: 1) download this ftp://ftp . veracomp . pl/mirror/abit/pub/download/utilities/drdos/drdflash . exe It's a self-extracting tool for writing a bootable DOS floppy disk 2) insert a blank floppy disk into your drive, and run the program you just downloaded . Follow the instructions it gives you 3) download the samsung tool . samsung . com/global/business/hdd/support/downloads/Shdiag . zip" target="_blank">www . samsung . com 4) extract the shdiag . exe program from the shdiag . zip file, either with the windows XP built in zip utility or another, such as winzip, winrar etc . 5) copy the shdiag . exe onto the floppy you created in step 2 6) reboot the computer and boot from the floppy disk . when you get an A:\ prompt, type shdiag . exe and press enter 7) the samsung diagnostic tool will load and should auto-detect your hard drive . then you can run tests . Documentation on how to use the samsung tool can be found here: . samsung . com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/Support_Shdiag . html" target="_blank">www . samsung . com

2008-03-10 10:33:00 | Any way to use CD instead floppy? I dont have a blank floppy atm but could buy if we still have them in my town x_X | Pfalzgraf (13448) | |
2008-03-10 20:32:00 | USB flash drive, make sure its a bootable one. Not all of them are. So, I found out. Get a bootdisk zip file from here (http://www.bootdisk.com) The 98 one will do, unzip it and copy the files in it to the main folder of the drive. Actually I used that shdiag program 2 days ago, for the 2 Samsungs I reinstalled in this to test them. On the USB drive, I've got here. Everything passed. I didnt know how long the scanning of the hdd would take tho, so didnt bother doing it.

2008-03-11 16:06:00 | Ok, since I didnt find a floppy or anything else than is there anything else that I should try? And I downloaded sensorsview pro and temps "seem" to be fine. Mostly games crash when mem usage gets too high ..for example crysis is using like 400 000~ and darkeden is using 40 000~ which is crashing rarely, only when opening many games together. Whats that "mem usage" anyway? | Pfalzgraf (13448) | |
2008-03-11 23:09:00 | Umm, now I noticed that when my games starting to crash then I hear a weird noise...Its like an electric buzz or smth :S | Pfalzgraf (13448) | |
