If you were getting BSOD, the issue now may have moved on to O/S file corruption causing simple application crashing now. I would look 1st at memory slot allocation, if you are using 2 modules of RAM, build the system with just one stick, get your apps loaded etc, test the PC for awhile before adding the 2nd stick. Memory is a big issue with modern chipsets etc, it basically hold all revelvant info while the PC is turned on, any miss configuration with timings or compatibly will show itself especially when the PC is stressed. | 644386 | 2008-02-29 18:41:00 | Ok, did the MemTest and 0 errors. Anything else that would help me? And btw could anyone add or tell me his msn so I can let him look at event viewer or something ? | Pfalzgraf (13448) | ||
| 644387 | 2008-02-29 18:46:00 | You've already posted what was in event viewer. Click on the links for the errors you posted. ie: Where it says go.microsoft.com See what they say. Only other thing to do is either reformat, or get another hard drive. If you cant get rid of that disk corruption error. And I would say there goes your warranty, since you replaced it with XP (If it had Vista on it). Did you run chkdsk ?? Did it fix anything? When you installed XP, did you install XP drivers?? Not Vista drivers for everything you've got? |

And I would say there goes your warranty, since you replaced it with XP (If it had Vista on it). - Omg.....But I read the book about my computer and in the warranty rules, there wasnt anything about losing warranty if you uninstall your original OS ;S Did you run chkdsk ?? Did it fix anything? -It didnt fix my problems When you installed XP, did you install XP drivers?? Not Vista drivers for everything you've got? -I installed everything from the CDs I got with, I think motherboard drivers configured to XP since it said "checking OS version" and got video drivers from nvidia.com but my audio drivers, I dont know if they are for vista or XP. :/ |

| 644389 | 2008-02-29 19:11:00 | And did you do a clean install?? Boot from the XP cd?? Then install XP? If you did, and it still crashes with that disk corruption error, I would say the hard drive is knackered. Replace it WHAT's the brand/model of this system?? HP? Dell? Other? BUT the cd's you've got, did anything say for XP?? Since it had Vista on it? |

But since my hard drive might be 'knackered' ..cant I just return it to warranty..or just..end ..warranty over because of just uninstalling vista -_- (****) " BUT the cd's you've got, did anything say for XP?? Since it had Vista on it?" - No, only video card had a selection [ Vista or XP ] ..Motherboard and all other stuff just configured itself I think |

| 644391 | 2008-02-29 21:19:00 | cant I just return it to warranty..or just..end ..warranty over because of just uninstalling vista -_- (****) You could try. I dont think you'll get very far. That'll be like buying a car, crashing it, then asking for a refund. Do you think the shop would give you a refund? - No, only video card had a selection [ Vista or XP ] ..Motherboard and all other stuff just configured itself I think Well Windows will install default drivers, so you can see something / use it Doesnt mean you dont have to install the drivers etc from the manufacturer's site. |

| 644392 | 2008-02-29 21:20:00 | Your Warranty shouldn't be voided by simply changing the operating system. Warranties cover HARDWARE - not software. If you look at places like HP, Dell etc, the first thing they say if you have a problem like yours is " Reinstall the PC Fresh back to factory Standard, if it still plays up call us". So what you do is simply that - Reinstall the PC back to exactly how it was when you first got it - same OS same drivers everything. Then see if it crashes still. If you need to install other programs ( games) install the minimum amount of additional software to make it crash. Keep track of exactly every thing you do and what you are doing when it crashes. THEN contact the person/shop/dealer you got it from and tell them whats happening. Some service places ( I do) will use a fresh install of the OS to test - that way you can usually eliminate the software. Personally I wouldn't try changing hard Drives yet - as its not proven it is the Hard Drive - no point in wasting money changing parts Willy nilly hoping to get the faulty part. |
