System requirements

The Windows version requires the following:

* Windows XP or Vista
* 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo / Athlon 64 X (or 3.5GHz Pentium 4/Athlon)
* 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
* at least a 128MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant shader 3.0-enabled video card (256MB recommended)
* 5 GB of hard disk space

The supported cards are

* ATI RADEON X1300-1950 / HD 2000 series,
* nVidia Geforce 6600, 6800, 7xxx and 8xxx series.

I say both your CPU and GPU are lacking, (according to those requirements anyways, and chances are what I've got there is wrong, since it's off a wiki and they're always subject to inaccuracies). You may be able to run with very very low settings, but I guess if you love the gameplay, it doesn't matter what it looks like.

:)
Are you sure? I remember Black and White 2 needed pixel shader 1.1 to run the game, and anything less will prevent you from playing the game.

Might need to ask around RusEvo.

Uhuh? My son had a Ti4200, he bought some game and rang me to ask what Pixel Shader 2.0 meant as the game complained and wouldn't install.

Told him he meant he had to upgrade like I'd been telling him for some time.

He did.

It DOESN'T mean you just won't have effects...........

644141 2008-02-28 01:07:00 the MX series graphics cards are pretty much obselete now, many games over the last 12 months specifically mention in the requirements that they won't run on these cards.

Also odds are almost 100% that you'll be running an older CPU socket and an AGP video card, upgrading these is fairly uneconomical. Newer hardware is a lot cheaper and better.

You could either buy a cheap AGP graphics card and see how you go, or start saving for an upgrade.

As an example of an entry level machine, I just upgraded a family members PC to an AMD X2 4200+EE. The MB CPU & 1G ram = $260 they don't play games so onboard video is fine. Add a $100 - $150 graphics card and for around $400 you have a much better machine.

To buy a new CPU & Graphics card for your existing machine ( if you can find a CPU ) could easily run to $300 + and still be a bit slow for the game you want.

Sorry you are right. Didn't read the part where he has an Nvidia Geforce MX card. No the game won't run on his computer.

644143 2008-02-28 05:36:00 the other thing to keep in mind, minimum specs is often just enough to veiw the game, that does not mean its actually playable. i've had a few games where the pc has been above minimum but the game has not been playable. playing at 4fps sucks. tweak'e (69)
644144 2008-02-28 07:21:00 Damn...this sounds much worse now...the thing is, I don't play games on my PC usually and so upgrading just for this would be a bit of a waste. Chris815 (10270)

I upgraded my entire PC just to play Black and White 2. And that led to my amateur hobby - computer hardware. It's both a curse and a blessing. The curse? Forking out a couple of thousands of dollars on my PC. The blessing? I enjoy it.

644147 2008-02-29 01:55:00 Can you run it just gave my PC a yes for Hitman: Blood Money. I brought it a few months ago and it ran at about 10fps. So so terrible. So yeah, there is a difference between whether a game will 'run' and whether it will run nicely. pine-o-cleen (2955)
