333798 2005-03-14 22:33:00 Go for cannon digi cam.Nobody uses digital cameras of sony if they know whats good for them.Sony cameras are overprice and the quality isn't good.Had a dscw1 camera which i sold at trademe boot it up to see the 5 megapixel camera.Ah the picturew quality was awful.Canons way better!
Whilst I have a Canon IXUS V3 myself and am very impressed with the IXUS range, particularly the newer models, I wouldn't say that the Sony pics I have seen are awful.

At a recent wedding a friend with a Sony 5 megapixel camera (not sure of model) had many clearer photos than I had, but then, so did the person with a later model Canon IXUS.

Hmmm... maybe it was just the person driving the camera - my photos were OK. :p

I would highly recommend looking at the Canon range though.

Though it could be I was saying "who cares what people in Hong Kong prefer" . . . who are they after all?

Just a bunch of people who eat dogs .

Muhahahaha .

I should be an ambassador .

Reminds me of the Indian taxi driver who threw me out in the middle of nowhere after I questioned him about building his house out of elephant dung . . . . :D

333803 2005-03-15 04:52:00 And tvg70 wants advice on buying a digital camera . :(

Sorry about the children .

I would say that just about any camera in the medium price range will please you .

Have a good browse of those review sites . . . they will give you a good idea of what to look for . Then pick up a few cameras, and look through the view finder or at the LCD screen . See if you like the feel of the camera .

Batteries are always a problem . Alkaline cells are for emergency use only (but it's nice to have that option if you use NiMH rechargeables) . Lithiums are great for lightness, but when they are flat they are flat . An extra set of NiMH AAs is only about $20 these days .

Optical zoom is essential . (Only the silly executive jewellery DCs would not have that) .

Many will take short movies . . . I'm not sure that it's an essential . ;)

Most manufacturers are changing models about every week (:D), so there are often specials as retailers move the previous models .

Memory cards . . . there are many types, but they are all becoming cheaper .

333804 2005-03-15 05:33:00 and it pays to buy quality batteries for your digi cam Prescott (11)
333805 2005-03-15 07:25:00 **This just in**

Residents of Harrisville, New Hampshire prefer Sony cameras .

They also insist they are not hobbits and they do not eat dogs though there are a couple of unexplained canine disappearances .

Police think UFO's may be involved .

Muhahahahahaha .
