335908 2005-03-19 21:14:00 I am new at all this so please bear with me. I just purchased an external DVD burner (LG GSA-5163D) and hooked everything up and installed the Power Producer Gold 2.0 software that came with it. I imported some mpg files and then burned to a DVD+R disc. I have a new Dell pc with XP Home Edition OS. The DVD plays in my home DVD player and on my Dell but it won't play on my IBM laptop. My question is that when I do play the DVD it does not play all of the chapters start to finish like on a commercially bought DVD. After each chapter I have to select another chapter to play. Is there a way to burn the disc so it will play all the way through?
Thanks in advance,
Dominic

335909 2005-03-19 21:54:00 In answer to the first question: It is possible that your PC burns DVD+ disks, the DVD player reads it OK, but the laptop only reads DVD- disks.

The booklets that came with the drives will say which type they use - often on the front cover.

For an understanding of the different flavours of DVD read about it at Webopaedia (www.webopedia.com)

As for the second question - I'm still trying to work out how to put in chapters using Ulead software. If it comes with a help menu then try searching for "chapters"

335910 2005-03-21 04:06:00 Thanks for the response and the link. The Power Producer software has a routine for creating playlists. I think that would create a presentation that would play what was included in the playlist. Problem is you need to have a special disc that is editable and I don't know what kind that would be. A DVD +RW would not work. Dominic (7651)
335911 2005-03-21 04:11:00 Nerovision (another download from Nero), will do DVD's and chapters.

If u mean so the DVD will play from start to finish, without stopping, Nerovision will do this as well.. (Burn to DVD, chapters marks, put in chapters automatically, fade ins/outs/backgrounds,/sounds etc).

It does most things u need to make up a DVD.
