2005-03-23 09:25:00 | This has already been discussed in another thread, and Mary has already kindly upped the number of threads per page to 30 today. Unfortunately, it can't be a user defined option and Mary has said that 30 is a midway solution to allow those on dialup to have reasonable page loading, while giving others more threads per page. :) Mary's comments re number of threads per page (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz). Ok, so this forum software does not allow user defined threads per page as the old one did, rats. Mary, sorry I missed that thread, had it slid off the page :D could we at least trial 40 threads per page? :dogeye:

2005-03-23 10:15:00 | Why don't we have a 100 threads per page, at the very least it would discourage all them dial up users . . . . . Muhahahahaha .

2005-03-24 00:39:00 | Murray P: I'm surprised that it doesnt have this feature as well. As I mentioned on the other thread I'll look into it more at a later date. Someone has questioned why we dont have separate category forums. This has been discussed numerous times by the PCW team but we instead decided to just separate out the chat threads. Believe it or not this is not a busy forum compared to international forums. Some people would find keeping up with multiple categorised forums hard, so either way you cant please everyone. The main thing for us at the moment is that two forums are easier for us to moderate than a whole bunch. Hope this answers your questions :)

2005-03-24 00:58:00 | I think that we should have a support section with, Ad/Spy/Malware as one of the topics, then trojans as another etc. have each individual problem with its own topic, then we would be a lot more orginized and it would be easier for the reader/helper to help fix the persons pc cause they would enter a topic which they knew a lot about, then they could have a general category and so on so fourth..... i would agree it is to jumbled up right now...... (are you currently look for staff members to help out with questions? i build my pcs and do webdevalopment and would be more than willing to help set up a system that would be easier for the veiwers and easiers for the moderators to moderate. we could have one or two moderators at each topic/forum so the responses to the questions would be alot quicker) (and another suggestion i have been a admin and owner of many sites and if possible i think you should update to phpbb since the interface is a lot easier and the forums loads quick for dailup buddys lol) Tiny

2005-03-24 01:27:00 | hey scouse, dont you agree tho that the forums are kinda of meshed together, and it makes it harder to find the answers to your problems sense the things arent categorized? | TINY (7596) | |
2005-03-24 01:53:00 | Hi Tiny. Nope, don't agree. If there were strict categories of interest, many of our members would put their query in the wrong category. Look now where we only have two areas of interest - the mods regularly have to hoik postings from one to the other. Additionally, I would probably be selective in what I looked at and would miss out on much of the crap and chit-chat which I plough through now - and very often enjoy. A bit like the library catalogue system where I visit about three sections and am probably missing out on heaps of great reading. Sorry. I like sifting through the bin and, being retired, I have the time to do so. I only wish I had the knowledge and skills to help more. | Scouse (83) | |
2005-03-24 02:32:00 | I like it as it is, the only change that could help is a quick link to chat from press F1 & vice versa :-) please..... Belong to a few forums and miss a lot of posts because of all the categories. OK 'New posts' help if one has time to go through all the posts in one go but deciding which category to put a multi faceted problem in is difficult.
