| 645657 | 2008-03-02 20:33:00 | Got a Laptop. Toshiba A70. The power socket has a bad design and from what I can tell, it is possible to 'repair' it. I've resoldered it, but it will unstick from the PCB after a few uses. Anyone know what Toshiba does when they repair it? I was thinking hot glue gun when I've soldered it. I tried to make an extension cable, but the laptop kept shutting off. |

| 645658 | 2008-03-02 21:57:00 | As far as I'm aware if you send it to toshiba they'll either solder a new power jack on, or replace the motherboard. How are you resoldering? It lasted a lot longer that a few uses (try around 8 months) when I did this. If needbe, add a bit of reinforcing. Also note that you don't have to attach the electrical contacts back in *exactly* the same place, as long as they're in the same place relative to the rest of the components on the board (hence that little wire you found in there...) | Erayd (23) | ||
