| 645509 | 2008-03-02 04:26:00 | Looking on Ascent's site at 19" LCD monitors it appears that the non-widescreen models are more expensive than widescreen ones. Anyone know why this is the case? For example this Viewsonic (www.ascent.co.nz) model is $397 which is $50 dearer than the next model, and has a one year warranty compared to three years for their cheaper widescreen monitors, eg this one (www.ascent.co.nz) and this one (www.ascent.co.nz). There are small differences in the contrast ratio and pixel refresh but I'm not sure if they have any effect on the price. It seems weird that the most expensive model appears to have less superior features to the cheaper models. :confused: Any light that could be shed on this would be appreciated. |

| 645511 | 2008-03-02 04:46:00 | Quite simply The Standard 4:3 LCD's are being replaced by the Wide Screen. Thats what the market is driving. _ Last time I asked one of my Dealers who does Viewsonic - all Viewsonic LCD Monitors come with a 3 year warranty. |

The model number of some of the Viewsonics have a VA in them but they also describe them as "Value Series" so I don't know if that means anything . Can't see anything listed in the specs of the Viewsonics either . :confused: |

Some of the Ultrasharp Dell Monitors(the more expensive ones) are PVA screens, while the cheaper ones tend to be TN . I don't really know about other manufacturers, but it appears most cheaper and newer 22 inch screens are TN, while the more expensive 24 inch ones seem to be more likely PVA screens .
