| 645258 | 2008-03-01 04:42:00 | I have an external 232 GB USB drive. The drive is reported in my computer on boot. I have been trying to backup a win2000 pro desktop to it, but everytime I try the following message appears "Device reported an error on a request to write data to media. Error reported - write protected media. I cannot find any reference to help on the error. There are some other files on the drive, however I have defragged it, but nothing changed. The backup program is the stock one that comes with Win2K Pro. Any help appreciated. |

| 645261 | 2008-03-01 05:50:00 | You can try microsoft's Synctoy (www.microsoft.com) I know its for XP, but according to Several Sites It does work on Win 2000. - Just not supported. Never tried on Win2000 as I dont have a system with the OS available to test it. The worst it should do is come up with a Error messages saying incompatible or error. Try copying some unimportant files first/ even create a test folder / files. But Here (www.pchell.com) is how to use it. You can also try something Like Paragon (www.paragon-software.com) - Not free but there is a 30 day trial. |
