338503 2005-03-27 10:53:00 That lovely flashing ad that those of us not using Firefox and adblock currently running on the right hand pane is for PB Technologies .

It even mentions a "Huge Easter Sale" " It's on Now"

Well they had an advert in the NZ Herald yesterday, mentioning their current specials and even the fact that they would be closed on April 1 for a stocktake .

So I gave them a call yesterday mid morning and the automated system answered and I then listened to a ringing phone for several minutes till I gave up thinking they may be busy . :illogical

Later that day cos I was out and about I drove across town to their shop ( Open till 3 ) to buy some CF memory .

The Gates were locked!
Checked the Herald ad again, nothing about being closed Sat 26, March
Nothing on their phone system about being closed .
Nothing on their web site about being closed either .

I was not able to get the CF flash cards that I wanted . :groan:

IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADVERTISE, THEN DAMN WELL INCLUDE ALL THE FACTS ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE OF US THAT WORK DURING THE WEEK AND HAVE TO TRAVEL 50KM'S TO GET IN ON A WEEKEND .

Now tell me why I should ever consider using your services ever again?

BTW, if you are after a CF card, then . flashcards . co . nz/catalog/" target="_blank">www . flashcards . co . nz is really good . Nice and fast service when I ordered from them .

338505 2005-03-27 11:23:00 I looked at www.Flashcards.co.nz, nice prices but was happy to go to PB Tech on Saturday, cos having a nice shiny new camera I wanted some memory so that I could take some pictures.

Now if we could just persuade the manufacturers to bundle some memory with the product.

BTW I can recommend who not to go to for memory, ....excuse me while I saw off my leg and offer my 1st born as well.
They also couldn't sell me a blower brush, a must have cleaning device for a camera, they were out of stock.

According to pricespy, the 1Gb ones start at $122.24... now how much memory could you have with $400!!!

338510 2005-03-28 07:06:00 All the answers regarding Compact Flash memory

www.compactflash.org

3 shops couldn't tell me the difference between a type 1 and a type 2 card.

The suggested answers were quite funny looking back as some of them should have known better, or would it be that the large chain stores employ people who can sell but have no specialist product knowledge.

Even their pricing relies on the average consumer being dumb and not looking too hard or asking too many questions.

338511 2005-03-28 07:27:00 Next time when you go to South or South-East Asia countries for vacation, no harm checking out the prices of the local shoplot for the best price on memory card, USB memory stick etc. Things will be relatively cheaper than NZ. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
