339194 2005-03-30 00:19:00 Especially the MS ones... I try to keep as much profit out of those guys pockets as i can :lol

If you feel that way about MS and their products, then you use open source to encourage competition, not pirated software. Being against a monopoly means you want greater choice and diversity. This philosophy is not reflected in the action of using the monopoly's products illegally.

Warez are not great. While I'll agree that poorly implemented copy protection that makes it harder for a legitimate user to use a legitimate product results in encouraging hacks for copy protection - I've had some frustrating experiences with assorted copy protection mechanisms on games, for example - on the whole warez exists for two reasons, neither of them stemming from any great moral stance.

1] Because some people like to prove how smart they are by breaking and disseminating hacks.

2] Because others don't want to pay for legal software.

Don't confuse ego and greed with taking a moral/political stance on software pricing.

339195 2005-03-30 01:35:00 Ah, now I'm with you. ;)

And with Google loving the the new forum .... yes. 1+1=free advertising for little gimp.

I have noticed Google picking up this site and indexing it quickly. I swear one night as I was replying to a very recent post (couldn't have been more than 1 hour old), I did a Google search for background information on the topic, and that post was already on Google.

Anyway, realising this now, maybe it should become standard practice to delete the errant poster's name and links as soon as possible otherwise Google will pick it up and cache it. Or if you are feeling particularly nasty, you could change the post and/or link to whatever takes your fancy.

But the question is: Are you nasty enough, huh punk?

339196 2005-03-30 02:29:00 So it's nice now and then when someone comes along and gives us the chance for some guilt-free nastiness . I've got no problem dissing an idiot like this .

LMAO!!! .

339197 2005-03-30 04:36:00 Well, Bob Doe just pointed this out to me:

Regarding Spammers (www.ttlg.com)

I'd be surprised if this was the case, but heck, who knows. So to be on the safe side I think we'll lock or delete such threads in future as well as removing details from the post. Man there are some irritating people out there ....

339198 2005-03-30 04:49:00 Does PressF1 have any control over how quickly sites such as Google cache new threads? Sometimes moderation can be too late. PaulD (232)

339200 2005-03-30 04:57:00 Does PressF1 have any control over how quickly sites such as Google cache new threads? Sometimes moderation can be too late . The spammers seem to be leaving us alone compared to how it was a wee while back . . . used to find about 4 spams (advertising) posts per week all posted around 2-4 am on the forums that we had to scrape off each morning

The fastest way of getting rid of them is to report that post so that a Mod can be alerted . Bit hard when it is in the middle of the night and all the Mods are tucked up in their beds, but we can deal with it first thing in the morning . :)

339201 2005-03-30 05:09:00 Which is why international moderators are good, so there's at least one online all the time ;) Edward (31)
339202 2005-03-30 05:16:00 Gosh talking about google indexing the pages ... if you google for great warez guess what is the first hit now  Jen (38)
339203 2005-03-30 05:28:00 Amazing isn't it. Hells bells, maybe Google ads would be the way to go  Biggles (121)
