After last Friday's message from Xtra (see www.xtra.co.nz) I am shifting my lines and broadband to either Telstra or Orcon - whoever comes up with the best deal. Basically it means (and I have had this confirmed from Xtra Complex Tech Support) that if a business has a domain name that has not been registered by Xtra, and they use the domain name for sending emails, they will have to register EVERY SINGLE email address they have on their domain with Yahoo. Some businesses will have 20, 30, 50 email addresses in their organisation. Not to mention that every time an employee joins or leaves the business, the time to add and remove email addresses is significant. We have done this process for some customers already, and the verification process is very time consuming. To compound matters, the Yahoo Bubble immediately fell over again last Friday when Xtra sent out emails to their customers. And once again, Xtra have learnt nothing from their previous debacle they have given customers a whopping 1.5 working days notice to make the necessary changes. The reasons Xtra give for doing this is to try and stem the tide of Spam that goes through their servers. But no other ISP feels the need to do this! I cant imagine why any business would contemplate staying with Xtra. |
