338718 2005-03-28 10:08:00 North Dunedin KFC hasn't fed me any twitching food yet.

Then again, I know a few of the staff there, so they'd hear about it from me forever more if they fed me off food.

338719 2005-03-28 10:21:00 And Dunedin is too cold for roaches? godfather (25)
338720 2005-03-28 10:23:00 KFC has always been slack in the Hygenie and cleanness dept (IMO)
There always seems to be fries all over the floor , Tables not wiped down etc.
and in one KFC (Ponsonby) that I went to one lunchtime the rubbish bin in the
store was overflowing and about half dozen flies were having a free kfc meal.

On the other hand McDonalds seem to hose down the carpark and buildings
everyday. It the McClean crew I guess.

338721 2005-03-28 10:29:00 Yeah, Dunedin is too cold for roaches. :D

(well, except for the three-day summer we occasionally get down here)

Anyhow, KFC down here seems to be a pretty ship-shape unit - I think a lot depends on the staff at each individual branch.

338722 2005-03-28 11:05:00 It's not just the roaches though....

it's the attitude of whoever removed the E rating sign and replaced it with an expired D grade.

IMO Look at the calibre of the staff, the low wages etc, therefore no pride, most probably couldn't give a rats about being there, it's just a job to pay the bills.

My local council recently embarked on grading the local food premises and a place that I regularly went to also scored an E. I haven't set foot in the door since. I never got sick from something there, but just what did the health inspector see?

NZ has some of the highest food poisoning rates in the western world, and poor preparation, storage, hygiene contributes to this tally. What's worse is that it isn't just in the fast food places either but also in the home.

As a serviceman I work in many environments ( commercial and residential ), some I wouldn't even give a dog a drink of water from. Yet I regularly get offered a drink.....

338723 2005-03-28 12:48:00 One of my favourite yumcha restaurants in Auckland is the Crown Restaurant, upstairs at the corner of Gt South Rd and East Tamaki Rd in Papatoetoe. It always failed its inspection, and closed everytime afterwards, but always re-opened under different management.

Rumour was that the maitre'd was the madam of a whorehouse down in Wiri, and the waitresses were the girls that worked there.

But dammit, they made the best dimsum in town.

And then there's the Vietnam Cafe down in Atkinson Ave in Otahuhu. Best rice noodle soup in the world, big fast cockroaches out the back....

338724 2005-03-28 19:59:00 Hmmmmmmm, looks like the best thing is eat home-cook food whereby you don't have to worry much about roaches and rodents. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
