646831 2008-03-06 04:15:00 The Yahoo mess with Xtra last October was bad enough. That the situation can get worse is beyond belief.

As a Eudora user I had no problems with the original changeover. Then gradually I began to realise that some of the mail that people told me they had sent, was not coming through. I went to Yahoo Bubble [GRRRRR] and checked my spam box and found some 600 emails, of which around 30 were legitimate and had been expected by me.

I right-clicked all these and clicked This is not Spam and they went to the inbox. I deleted the rest.

Now I check every morning and every evening to see what legit. messages have been dumped as spam.

Well and good you might say. NOW... as of the last two days, I am finding that mail sent to me from two sources from whom I have been getting mail for years has just disappeared. Not bounced back to them, not in my online webmail spam box, not in my own Eudora junk mail or spam box so WHERE did they go?

Two phonecalls a month apart answered by people with a heavy accent which is extremely hard to understand, have told me that I need to place ALL incoming mail on my contact list to allow it into my inbox. What about legit mail from those whom I dont know are sending it?

Another comment.... It must be my Eudora. Yeah Right. When it worked fine through the changeover period and Outlook express users had many problems?

Yet another.... their mail server is FINE..[proven by my sending an email to myself ... which is not even external]

This went ON and all the trite platitudes trotted out by the "help" desk staff showed how little understanding they really had about the problem.

So please... who is a good ISP for broadband which will NOT give me these hassles? My blood pressure rises by the hour.

646833 2008-03-06 08:23:00 Hey man, I might point out that it is NOT necessary to have the Spamfilter enabled. I made sure it was disabled it as a precautionary measure (I disable spamfilters everywhere I can actually) the very first time I logged into that bubble place. Once it's disabled (you go into options and find spam filter there), there isn't any spam folder at all, everything goes in your inbox and stays there till you say otherwise.

Hope that helps.

646834 2008-03-06 23:06:00 That is the problem DeathWish .
The Spam filter is NOT enabled, yet my spam box is full of watches, purses and viagra as usual . None of which I mind having them extract .

What is really bothering me is that the mail I am not getting at all is nowhere, anywhere, ever .

7 messages on my Yahoo groups list mail, which I have been getting for the past 5 years . . . Zilch .
2 messages from a friend in the same city, also on Xtra, and who has been emailing me the past 4 years . . . Zilch .
The Xtra "help" people tried to then blame my mail programme, my domain redirect, and any routers they could think of along the way . In the end I had to hang up, still with no result, because I was getting uncontrollably irate!

Time for a new ISP .

646835 2008-03-06 23:20:00 Yep time for a change I'd say.

I had to ring Xtra the other day and they told me the PC's IP address was wrong. But I was logged into the router/modem so had a connection with it but do you think they would accept that. NO kept saying IP address is wrong. Hang up in the end.

646836 2008-03-06 23:40:00 Yeah Xtra's poop, lots of people have had the same problems you're having.

Change to Xnet, Orcon, KOL or Actrix.

646837 2008-03-07 00:21:00 Set up a gmail account. Gmail's spam filter is excellent. You are then independent of the ISP. You can pop gmail, too, so you can keep Eudora. XTRA mail is just impossible. linw (53)
646838 2008-03-07 00:24:00 Change to Xnet, Orcon, KOL or Actrix.

Not KOL.

646839 2008-03-07 00:28:00 Not KOL.

Why is that? I was with them for years and found them as good if not better than Orcon. Never had anything to complain about.

646840 2008-03-07 01:12:00 Xtra email was out around mid November, which affected some of my Trademe communications. Since then I now use Gmail... kahawai chaser (3545)
