| 645957 | 2008-03-03 15:55:00 | For some reason my computer freezes during gameplay on most of my games though it doesnt do it at all on 1 of them. I have no clue why. A few months ago I wiped my computer, reinstalled windows and my games again but this time they freeze. I love playing medieval 2 total war but it freezes at random points. It loads fine but during the game play it will freeze. The whole system locks up. The mouse will not move, the sounds goes, I cant get back to windows. The only thing I can do is press the reset button. There is no consistency on time either. It could happen straight away after starting the game or not happen until after 1 hours play. My system is no spring chicken but it used to run these games before. I had a couple of probems with overheating but when it did that it just reset itself and I have resolved this since anyway. I tried the CCleaner but it doesnt work after this. I have Norton protection which should mean it isnt a virus or spyware probelm (I have also tried it with norton turned off). I tried updating the radeon drivers. I am not sure what else it could be. I also play Dawn of War and Dark Crusade and these run perfectly. I have a Pentium 4 3.0 (or 3.2). I expended the ram a long time ago to 512k. I have a radeon 9100 IGP card in an ASUS motherboard. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Open the system and application logs, look for error / warning messages at the exact time the lock ups occur, double click a few and see if they say the same thing ( error message) find one that is consistent copy / paste the complete error message back here - this will tell you whats going on . Also in the message will be a link to MS with a possible solution as well . |
