| 339581 | 2005-03-30 03:10:00 | I am having an argument with a friend over the storyline spanning the whole of the Star Wars saga. He does not agree with my position which is: The Separatists developed out of opposition to the Republic. The Separatists successfully recruited the Guilds and waged war on the Republic using droid armies. It eventually grew to become the Empire under Count Dooku. The Republic fought back using clone armies and various allies including Jedi and Wookies, but disintegrated and the remnants turned into the Rebel Alliance. How the Empire inherited the clone army weaponry, style of uniform and crafts, in later episodes I cannot explain. I cannot also explain why in Episode 1 (or 2?) a clone army is shown attacking and annihilating a group of Jedi. My friend thinks the Separatists were those that followed opposition leader Amidala from Naboo and were various victims of the embargoes and blockades by the Guilds, such as Wookies, and they became the Rebel Alliance. The Separatists raised the clone army. The Republic was taken over by Palpatine and his handler (Count Dooku?) who sided with the Guilds (Commerce Guild, Techno Union etc), which later became the Empire under Count Dooku. The Republic raised the droid army. This site (www.starwars.com) is of little help. A small amount of alcohol is at stake here. |

This chaotic political climate precipitated the dark times that overcame the galaxy. The Republic crumbled and was rebuilt in the guise of the New Order. " Actually Palpatine formed the empire out of the remnants of the old republic to form the empire. I suspect the CIS (CountDooku) actually collapses after the Clone Wars and formed part of the remnants. |

Actually Palpatine formed the empire out of the remnants of the old republic to form the empire. I suspect the CIS (CountDooku) actually collapses after the Clone Wars and formed part of the remnants. That doesn't make sense. Palpatine was under fire from the Guilds, which seemed to form the backbone of the Empire later on. And Dooku had clearly gone over to the dark side. |
