338234 2005-03-26 08:04:00 Hi

Here in Brooklyn, Welington, there was a big brown-out.

The lights kind of went dim-bright-dim-bright for 10 seconds or so, very noticably. Then, the power went right out for about 2 seconds, well very close (maybe 40 volts or so). Then it came back on again, perfectly normal.

It was enough to reset my PC and make some of our clocks lose their time.

I was listening to ZM at the time and it took about 5 seconds to come back on after my stereo did, indicating it might have been more than just Brooklyn.

Also all my Wellington MSN contacts went offline for a minute or so.

So guys, how far did this extend to, and what do you think the cause was?

That was the time. But the lights went totally off for like 2 seconds, you would have noticed?

338242 2005-03-26 14:16:00 Happened here in Lower Hutt, good old UPS kicked in with not a flicker on the screen while the lights were going nuts, the Saturn box reset and the TV cut out momentarily.

George I'm surprised your not using a UPS with your servers.
