647539 2008-03-09 03:43:00 Hi
In a few days I am going to present a 'PowerPoint' talk and have made it on ProShow Gold. Looks great etc BUT
Will this DVD be able to work from a laptop not loaded with ProShow to a screen (like a powerpoint?
If so, what steps do I do after I have saved the final copy ready to make it into a DVD?
I really hope I can use this ProShow as I will be up the street without a paddle - never made a Powerpoint in my life!!!!!
I have made many ProShows but never as a powerpoint show from a laptop to a screen - have done from a DVD player to a screen.
Any help so gratefully received
cheers Lindy :)

647540 2008-03-09 03:46:00 If you have the original PPT file, it is best to use PowerPoint's 'package for cd' feature - will run on any Win2000, Vista or XP system jwil1 (65)

PPT file? I'm a rookie here!
Found the 'package for cd' feature but couldn't add the ProShow file.
(I have only put the show together and saved it but gone no further)

647542 2008-03-09 05:05:00 If you have made a ProShow Gold presentation you do not need Powerpoint or indeed ProShow Gold on your computer to show the programme. It is a stand-alone thingy (using Photodex Installer). The show will also show on your TV with no additions. :) R.M. (561)

PPT File = PowerPoint file

BTW PPT is shorthand for PowerPoint, XL for Excel

647544 2008-03-10 21:51:00 If Proshow Gold works like PicturesToExe and as far as I know it does, you can use the "CREATE" function after you have completed the show, and make a n executable file which will run as a stand alone on a PC.

For a Mac it is more difficult and you probably need to make a DVD-Video. I found when I did this with Pics2Exe, that the quality was severely degraded in the conversion process. :(

647545 2008-03-11 03:26:00 I assume you have a powerpoint file you're using.

If you do, use the package for cd feature, add any extra files embedded in the powerpoint file (eg music, video) and burn to CD - done.

If you don't have a powerpoint file, try and convert it (if it can be done). It's much simpler to run it from a CD than from a DVD player IMO (and experience).
