2008-03-09 03:41:00 | Hey everyone. I just purchased a computer with an intel motherboard. I am planning to upgrade to a newer intel socket LGA775 processor. I just had a look at the prices and totally **** myself. Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8Ghz $170??!?!??!!? (Isn't this comparable to like a $90 X2 4200+) That is the cheapest Core 2 Duo. Intel Core 2 Duo E6550, 2.33GHz $235? (That processor is comparable to a X2 5200+ which is only $150) These prices are from pricespy.co.nz btw. Please someone, PLEASE tell me I am doing something wrong or not getting something?

(That processor is comparable to a X2 5200+ which is only $150) Thats a good price considering the RRP is around $369.00 I'm afraid you logic of (That processor is comparable to a X2 5200+ which is only $150) It doesn't work like that. If it did then the price of a 160 Gb HD would be double that of a 80Gb drive, which it isnt. |

2008-03-09 04:51:00 | Go and look up reviews, you will find that the comparisons you posted are completely wrong, the Intel CPUs are better than the AMD you compared them to. I am guessing you don't know the old saying "you get what you pay for"

2008-03-09 04:54:00 | E6550 is comparable to 5600+ I think. Most if not all Intel CPUs are terrific overclockers, and Intel probably put that into their pricings. And they consume less power, and gives out much better performance.

2008-03-09 09:04:00 | My current desktop has an E6550. In my opinion, it's a seriously kickass chip, even without overclocking - the default clock is just fine for me :D. I'd strongly recommend you get one, you won't regret it. | Erayd (23) | |

2008-03-09 09:28:00 | Omg...I have an intel computer. Your comment is irrelevant to my question. Well, yer but you were comparing Intel to AMD. And moaning about the Intel CPU prices. So, it was / is relevant.

2008-03-09 09:56:00 | I was comparing AMD to Intel because that's what my knowledge was telling me to do. I am not moaning, I am pretty much saying I must be doing something wrong. Can't you see the question mark by my thread title? It suggests I may not fully understand what I am talking about. "Please someone, PLEASE tell me I am doing something wrong or not getting something?"
