2008-03-08 04:04:00 | This is probably a silly question... Am I able to 'copy' a YouTube video off the net - so I can show it at our next club meeting? And if the answer is yes - how do I do that? TIA R.M :)

2008-03-08 04:08:00 | Go here: http://keepvid.com/ Then paste the youtube link and it should hopefully give you a download link for the file. The format will be flv which you can play in a flv player or VLC player which I tend to use (it plays most formats). This info came from Clint in London. It works for me. What is the name and address of your club ? And can I come along (unless its the Remuera hand knitting club) Sorry Fendalton hand knitting club.... Regards Digby

2008-03-08 04:10:00 | You could use the downloader plugin for firefox, and download it with this. Then you may have to convert it. Or you could go here (http://www.catchvideo.net/) Copy and paste the url for the youtube video, select the video format and this site will convert it for you. (either to Mpeg or MP4). I use this site coz most of the youtube videos I converted with super and any video converter kept going out of sync. Then all you have to do, is download the converted file, and open it with whatever program.

2008-03-08 04:14:00 | There's been many online services that allowed this but YouTube have been changing the way their videos are served and some don't work anymore. For example you used to be able to change "youtube.com" to "kissyoutube.com" on the page of a video you wanted and then were presented a download link. Your best option IMO would be to use a service like zamzar (www.zamzar.com) to not only download but convert it to a more portable format. You need to supply an email so just use a disposable one (www.sizlopedia.com) if you're weary.

2008-03-08 04:35:00 | You could try this down loader and converter - Biennesoft (www.snapfiles.com)YouTube Downloader | kahawai chaser (3545) | |
2008-03-08 04:42:00 | R.M: There are too many ways of doing this to list, as you would have found from the various responses so far. I've personally found Orbit Downloader very useful, however have also used Keepvid and Zamzar with equal success.

2008-03-08 05:40:00 | Failed - so far. :( I tried most options - error messages ranged from: Error: File has no extension. Please select one that has and try again. To: Connection failed
