646905 2008-03-06 20:34:00 My laptop which has been running a geninune activated version of XP refused to log on this morning, quoting that i needed to activated (which i did about 3 months ago) i havent done anything illegal, and was wondering what on earth could cause this to happen? It wouldnt be join/leaving a domain....which is the only thing i did, but i did restart the machine yesterday after that and it worked fine, no activation issues saying i hav x amount of days.
Help much appreciated

Aidan :thanks

646906 2008-03-06 20:39:00 Ring MS and ask them. Speedy Gonzales (78)
646907 2008-03-06 22:22:00 There is a virus thats doing the same thing so I suggest you post a HJT log and it can be removed. Pancake (6359)
646908 2008-03-07 06:27:00 I had this problem too, but I got it fixed at a computer shop. You should go to your nearest computer shop.:clap mathsgood (13356)
646909 2008-03-07 07:05:00 Have you tried to reactivate it again and see what happens ?

Pancake ( post #3) is right - there are a few bugs around that can make Windows say that.

The hard Drive may need to be removed and be cleaned by using the following software - Spybot from my sig,Superantispyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/) , Also what Antivirus do you have ??

646910 2008-03-08 00:19:00 If the BIOS date / time somehow goes back BEFORE XP was activated can trigger the re-activation, usually a dying CMOS battery causes this. ughnz (8297)
