340814 2005-04-02 13:36:00 i was just poking round the forum, and saw this on the profile page for one of my backup personalitys:

********* is not a member of any public groups

and this:

Add ******** to Your Buddy List

So what is the "buddy list" and the "public groups" anyway?

340816 2005-04-02 22:33:00 From the FAQ page:

What are the buddy and ignore lists?
The buddy list is used to keep track of the friends you have made on this forum. By going to your "My vB Home", you'll be able to see which of your friends are currently online, and be able to send them a private message. Adding people to your buddy list also allow you to send private messages to multiple forum members at the same time. You may add any member of the forums to your buddy list by clicking this button in a member's posts.

Ignore lists are used for those people who's messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread.

Question: Are the Email buttons found on normal posts within a thread? I cannot recall seeing any such button. Refer to:
Can I send email to other members?
Yes! To send an email to another member, you can either locate the member you want to contact on the member list, or click the Email button on any post made by that member.

340817 2005-04-02 23:06:00 Thanks all..

Seems i'm as blind as my old dog when it came to "buddys" but that still leaves the question of "public groups". A search for "public groups" gave the result: "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. " :D

340818 2005-04-02 23:28:00 Hi Folks. Warning... if you send a message to another member, don't forget to make sure that you have flagged the system to show that you are willing to receive a resonse. A member recently sent me a query about a post I had made. When I tried to respond I got this .... "Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails. If you still wish to send an email to this user, please contact the administrator and they may be able to help." This left me the options of either contacting the administrator or sending an ordinary email which would have supplied the person with my personal email addy. I didn't bother. :2cents: Scouse (83)
340819 2005-04-03 02:17:00 Probably most people have left the "recieve email" option in its default "no" state.

There's only one person on my ignore list. So far. ;)

340822 2005-04-03 03:41:00 I've got nobody on it, the only people bad enough to get on the ignore list get banned anyway! george12 (7)
340823 2005-04-03 09:19:00 All the mac fans are on the ignore list. Ah well, never liked them :D Edward (31)
