There are two reasons - a quarter of the population live in Auckland and will love Aunty Helen for being a road builder . Sort of like Roosevelt's New Deal . :horrified Secondly, apparantly 50 of our 120 Members of Parliament come from the Auckland region . This gerrymandering is a side-effect of list MPs . So what chance do the rest of us have? This really needs development on another thread - there's a wee hint for you Tom . ;) |

| 339811 | 2005-03-31 10:21:00 | Funny how labour here are just like the labour govt in the uk (ie the one I escaped from). This petrol tax is a big ripoff and kick in the teeth. But what can we do about it? I won't be voting labour but I guarantee they'll get voted in again because the alternatives come across as being lame, may not be any different and people will still insist on voting labour. |
