339804 2005-03-31 04:46:00 Taxes on their own aren't that bad - taxes which apply to ALL OF NZ, where the money is to be spent on Auckland's motorways, is worst. somebody (208)
339805 2005-03-31 06:13:00 Probally a bit late but disel miles are going up 27% as well. Rob99 (151)
339806 2005-03-31 06:34:00 they are?

Hell....my wagon is 8000km over, damn.

How do you like that 5.6 cents on top of other tax,I mean to say!

Hell . . . . my wagon is 8000km over, damn .

You wally . I've had clients get some awful fines for that . Very expensive . Mind you I'm a wally too - nearly got caught about 6 months ago .

Metla, you best pop down to Uncle Jim's Kiwi Bank first thing tomorrow and fill out the nice form . ;)

And I fear you are right . There are two reasons - a quarter of the population live in Auckland and will love Aunty Helen for being a road builder . Sort of like Roosevelt's New Deal . :horrified

Secondly, apparantly 50 of our 120 Members of Parliament come from the Auckland region . This gerrymandering is a side-effect of list MPs .

So what chance do the rest of us have?

This really needs development on another thread - there's a wee hint for you Tom . ;)

339810 2005-03-31 10:19:00 Metla,

They work out how much you owe for the over mileage, triple it, that's your fine. You still have to get your diesel tax on top of that. Take it from someone who's been there

339811 2005-03-31 10:21:00 Funny how labour here are just like the labour govt in the uk (ie the one I escaped from).
This petrol tax is a big ripoff and kick in the teeth.

But what can we do about it? I won't be voting labour but I guarantee they'll get voted in again because the alternatives come across as being lame, may not be any different and people will still insist on voting labour.
