647623 2008-03-10 23:11:00 I'm not really sure how hot the Phenoms normally run, but have you tried cleaning and re-applying thermal paste to the CPU heatsink?

Yep, tech at the shop did all that for me, cleaned heatsink and CPU then applied Arctic Silver compound.

647624 2008-03-12 06:25:00 Well after some tinkering I have come to change my opinion of this board. There is definitely a design flaw in terms of the north bridge.

I have disabled Hardware monitoring and the onboard LAN card. this has resulted in a significantly quieter PC.

I'm still concerned with the CPU temp which is averaging 47-52 degrees but from reading other articles this appears to be the norm (mostly).

The CPU Fan is significantly quieter... I'm thinking about updating the BIOS to the beta 601 version which is on the Asus site... not too sure what's happening as the 406 which is currently on the board still appears to have beta status on the website too.

I'm happy with the result so far but this experience has left somewhat of a bad taste in my mouth...

Proof only that there are a few lemons out there.
