648703 2008-03-12 00:07:00 I recently installed Photoshop but I cannot transfer photos from camera. The photo downloader opens with a popup. 'failed to load plugins required to get media from devices'. I have windows xp. Could someone please help, thanks. bellbird (6169)
648704 2008-03-12 00:19:00 Before Elements how were you transferring the photos? Could you use Win Explorer? PaulD (232)
648705 2008-03-12 00:36:00 Sorry, not sure exactly what that means except that I transferred photos using the Olympus programme and I was using Picasa too. Is that any help. I've also just remembered that after I first installed Photoshop, forum members suggested moving the mox file to the desktop when I was getting ConnAPI.DLL not found message. bellbird (6169)
648706 2008-03-12 04:24:00 I reinstalled Photoshop and somehow it all seem to be working ok. I've not had to move the mox file to the desktop and my photos have transferred ok.
???? All a mystery to me!

648707 2008-03-12 04:26:00 It'll probably be easier getting a memory card for the camera, and a card reader. Speedy Gonzales (78)
648708 2008-03-12 20:46:00 I teach seniors how to download photos from a digital camera and my advice is always to go and buy a card reader from your camera shop. Take your camera card in to be sure you get a card reader that it fits. Most fit multiple cards anyway, which is good when you buy a new camera with a different style of card.

Plug this into your USB port, allow XP to find the new hardware, and then put your card in. You can then open My Computer and you will have some new Removable Drives. Check out which has your photos, and copy and paste them to your hard drive.

This way you can keep it with your camera when you travel and have no need for special software anywhere.

I used the Olympus programme and found it extremely slow and clumsy to use.
