648400 2008-03-10 22:09:00 I would like to add some RAM to my Desktop. I purchased it in 2000. I run XP on it and as it only has 512 m RAM it runs oh so slowly. Hope fully if I can add some RAM it will run quicker. I cannot see any markings that would indicate the type.
Any help will be gratefully received.

648403 2008-03-10 22:15:00 CPU-Z is a very small app that will tell you www.cpuid.com

PS 512 shouldn't be that slow.

648404 2008-03-10 22:17:00 Nope, never heard of it.

Get this (www.cpuid.com)

Install it then run it. Click on the 2nd icon (Mainboard).

Then click on the physical memory entry. Look down the bottom whats it say?

Then maybe it's time you looked :)

CPU-Z is from the same place as PCwizard but the download is under 200kB as opposed to 2.7MB

Swampy - the important thing to look at is the DRAM frequency underneath Type and Size.
