2005-04-06 22:15:00 | From the Herald: Woman defrauded lawyer of $1 . 2m ( . nzherald . co . nz/index . cfm?c_id=1&ObjectID=10119174" target="_blank">www . nzherald . co . nz) Best quote: Serious Fraud Office lawyer David Jones said Walsh concealed the Nigerian connection when discussing the rescue package with the other investors . She told them a Middle East benefactor was setting up a trust to help people who had fallen on hard times through no fault of their own . She was the trust's New Zealand representative and the funds would be under her control to dispense to people who fitted the criteria . If anyone, ANYONE, came to you with that story and wanted hundreds of thousands of dollars, would you a] give it to them and wait for the profits to roll in b] call the police right there, right then Some people are too stupid for mere words to describe .

2005-04-07 00:01:00 | notice the clever lawyer has his name supressed too. | JJJJJ (528) | |
2005-04-07 00:08:00 | Notice this bit: After Walsh's conviction yesterday, the lawyer said the Government should act to counter the activities of overseas fraudsters by severely limiting the amounts and frequency which individuals could use organisations such as Western Union and Travelex to transfer money out of the country . So after he is so STUPID that he is conned - TWICE - out of money he thinks the government should protect him from himself by imposing restrictions on how much money can be transferred via those systems . He may have managed to get name suppression, but I wouldn't describe him as clever . . . . .

2005-04-07 00:18:00 | He must have over-charged his clients to accumulate 1.2 Mil. No sympathy here. I pity his clients having a lawyer like that. | KiwiTT_NZ (233) | |
2005-04-07 00:25:00 | Yeah, name suppression in this case seems a bit much. Name suppression is usually used to protect the innocent - others who would suffer when a guilty party's identity comes out. In this case, the innocent will suffer because of name suppression. I.E. his poor bloody clients who have no idea that Slick Willy in the fancy suit looking after their family trust is in fact New Zealand's stupidest lawyer. | Biggles (121) | |
2005-04-07 00:32:00 | Some people are too stupid for mere words to describe . When it comes to greed there are no boundaries as to how stupid some people can be . The prospect of significant fortune blinds the greedy to all reason . Serves him damn right .
