342872 2005-04-10 23:15:00 I never said that woosh violated the contract I am in. Otherwise, I can take legal action againt it. I have my right to express my feeling about using woosh's low speed dialup service. Even they set the dialup speed to 2KB/sec, you can do nothing on it.
Since they say dialup is hell, then it is a worse hell for me right now.

342873 2005-04-10 23:17:00 Somehow I think eternal damnation may be a little more unpleasent then dial up.....

Muhahahahahha....

342874 2005-04-10 23:22:00 Actually, you can say anything here. But if you want me to believe what you said by quoting "most people in NZ", you should tell me how you found out those figures. As I mentioned before, you can not represent "most people in NZ". In here, I will only say me or my friends. davidakl (7837)
342875 2005-04-10 23:45:00 Given that most people in NZ live in urban areas, it should be no surprise that most CAN get V.90 modem speeds(40-50kbps download). V.90 upload is no faster than V.34 modems. Woosh would be behaving like secondhand car salemen to claim that 32kbps is a typical dialup download speed especially as it is their choice not a technical limitation. PaulD (232)

342877 2005-04-11 00:03:00 So happy that Techie gave up finally.
I quite like Techie when he/she got angry, cute and funny. Just like Mr Tamihere, he/she may not know what he/she was talking about when he/she got angry. His replies will surprise you for sure! :p

I set this topic is not for whining only. If you set a topic saying someting good about Woosh, I can put some comment too. When I needed to make a decision between Xtra and Woosh, I can not see any differences in the services they are providing.
I just hope someone who is planning to use broadband can make a right decision with my experience. If you can stand on 4KB/sec-4.4KB/sec after capped, Woosh is not a bad choice for you.

When I was on dialup I would have been most happy to get that speed. Even though I live in an "urban" area my download speeds were mostly around the 3KB/sec and more often below that than above.

Strangely enough another person just a kilometre away in an older area averaged well over 5KB/sec, often getting up to 7KB/sec using the same ISP.

Further statements of the obvious..

Woosh is great for people who do not necessarily have phone access. Thats the advantage. It uses spare bandwidth on parts of videofones network, and some dedicated tower thingys. For the moment its a bit flaky at times, but it works fairly well most of the time for those willing to chip in for it.

Those who have phone line access, and wish to move a lot of data can choose the more hardwired options such as cable or ADSL

Woosh is a better option for house-truckers, people living in less permanent flats, and/or people who want speed but don't download operating systems or run servers.

Of course there are those whose needs are met by dial-up access

Does this make the difference clearer?
