343046 2005-04-11 07:04:00 In our industry we call them 'repeat business'... you just let them keep repeating themselves until you show them the bill, then the door. And yes, that usually stops the hot air blowing. Shortcircuit (1666)
343047 2005-04-12 01:16:00 Indeed,Jumping in with no background in dealing with customers I have found myself lead down a few garden paths by timewasters, Getting better at weeding that out though, and cutting down on time wasted,

One that got me the other day..

Young lady came in,asked for a quote for a computer to run a home based landscaping bussiness, I started to write up a system, asking questions as far as requirments go, ...no worries, had to have finicial software package, printer, Office, etc etc, when it came to the graphics card she confirmed it would be used by teenagers who would most probally want to play games....and then she whipped out a Ucol sheet and confirmed that 2 young males were in the house, aged 11 and 14.....

Ucol?

So i asked her if the computer was for her?

no.

I asked her if she was helping someone to purchase a computer?

no.

I asked her if I had just done her homework assignment for her.

Yes.

343048 2005-04-12 01:41:00 Yup - we get emails like that from time to time. "I've got a homework assignment. Can you answer these 50 questions for me and provide me with a 5000-word essay by tomorrow".

While I don't mind being asked the odd question, what really gets me is that the answers they seek aren't hard to find in 5 minutes with a computer and Google.

343051 2005-04-12 09:32:00 So Metla do you mind window shoppers, I for one are a big window shopper although 90% of the time i will buy something from that shop, like to take my time before making that big purchase...The small retailers must remember it is the personal sevice and going the xtra distance that sets them apart from the big chains, i prefer to use the smaller retailers..
Does the forum have a list of member buisnesses or is that frowned upon
