648697 2008-03-12 08:17:00 I have a usb tuner my friend got me overseas
it's not made to work with nz standards so obviously the supplied software does not work

however since it can receive the signals, all I need to do was to get 3rd party software and waste few hours on tweaking then it works :p
the time-wasting should decrease when more and more people use dvb-t and post their findings

the antenna I use came with the tuner, it's one of those little ones
only about 15cm long
if it's put on the right place pointing at the right direction I can get some pretty decent signals
and of course signals are always pretty much perfect when hooked up to my roof antenna

...now all I need is a computer fast enough to watch the high-def stuff
AthlonXP simply doesn't do the trick...

648698 2008-03-12 20:15:00 What about this one from leadtek, its about $110.

leadtek.com

What would be a retailers policy on a return if the product doesn't work for me.

648700 2008-03-12 22:39:00 For High Definition Terrestrial TV you will want to have the MPEG 4 codac as that is what it will be broadcast in.

The Leadtek tv tuner that Trev gave the link to has MPEG 4.:clap

99.9% of the Freeview Settop box's that you can buy in NZ only have MPEG 2 codac at the moment!!!

So NZ consumers are getting ripped off if they have bought a Freeview settop box with only the MPEG 2 codac!!!:(

You have been warned!!!

648701 2008-03-13 00:42:00 Ok then people what TV tuner should I buy? What one will be easiest to set up and could best utilize a non-roof aerial? (remember the USB and HD thing) AST (13503)
648702 2008-03-13 00:58:00 A roof aerial would be better than rabbit ears.

If you actually want to see something on the screen.
