648578 2008-03-11 22:48:00 Well some programs that clean the registry can and will remove valid entries (for programs that still exist).

So, you HAVE to be careful what program you use, and what entries you tell it to delete. or it can make a system / program unusable.

And you'll end up either reinstalling the program, or windows again. if you delete the wrong things (if you have no idea what it does / or what you're doing / deleting in the registry).

648579 2008-03-11 22:54:00 Yup - very true . . . . . I'd always been gully about letting an app run riot through my registry, but like I said, having used Reg . Mech for a few years, on a few dozen PC's at least, I've never had any issues whatsoever, and it always improves performance (only to a small extent in some cases) .

Maybe I'm just lucky! :p

I suspect that if you used it on an already-corrupt installation of Windows, you'd make things worse very quickly, so I always make sure that the OS is sound before I start .
