2008-03-11 01:15:00 | I think it'll be 168 pin, not 84. 144 will be sodimm I think | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2008-03-11 01:23:00 | 84 pin is SO DIMM laptop style, are you counting both sides? | PaulD (232) | |
2008-03-11 06:30:00 | From Wikipedia PC133 is available in 168 pin DIMM and 144 pin SO-DIMM form factors DIMM shuold be what you're after. Hardish to get and pricey: www.gpstore.co.nz The age of the computer is more likely to be a factor as far as speed goes (Pentium 2 or 3?), as XP usually runs reasonably fast in 512Mb on say an early Pentium 4: perhaps a reinstall of Xp is in order (can get like molasses after a year or two ;)); maybe time for a hardware upgrade? :p

2008-03-15 02:44:00 | Can I re-install XP ( I have the disk ) without loosing whats on the hard drives ? I have bought 2 x 512 sticks of SDRAM to the above specs and installed them. The BIOS only sees 512 MB but the PC Wizard is seeing both sticks - in slots 1 and 2.

2008-03-15 02:47:00 | Why do you need to do a reinstall is something broken, are you trying to reset Windows to its default state or....? If its to do with the BIOS detecting the RAM Windows has nothing to do with that. Can Windows see the RAM?
