344032 2005-04-15 22:59:00 That's the thing about Amway et al - the easiest way you make money by hassling your friends and family. This is uncool when I am on the receiving end, so I won't contemplate doing it to others.

And I just hate those "Do you want to come to a meeting?", "Want to achieve all your dreams?", "Be rich beyond your wildest dreams!" lines designed to suck you in without telling you exactly what they have in store. I hear that's why they use a2k.com instead of Amway.com.

344033 2005-04-16 00:58:00 Back many years ago curiosity got the better of me and I rang up about one of those "make money at home just using your computer $2000-10000 a month, be your own boss, work your own hours"...lmao, the amount of absolute rubbish coming from the guy I was speaking to was astounding, I stopped him 4 or 5 times and he barely missed a beat, continuing on with the tirade of fluff, in the end I just demanded he tell me the name of the bizzo, product and what the "job" was.

Seems it was Herbalife, and there was not a single part of the deal that had anything to do with using a comp (he was telling me they were in the bizzo of identifying markets, then filling the need, somehow this equated to much money and peace of mind for everyone)...all it came down to was buying a pack off him, then trying to sell it to friends and family.

To make it worse we had a close friend who had been sucked in by the same company and had not shut up about the damn products for over six months, we had to ostracize her completely, and it took a full year for it to sink in that the products had been no benefit (bark cordial my naked arse), she had made no money, and no one she knew could stand the sight of her....

344034 2005-04-16 01:13:00 Well i was sucked into AMWAY about 10 years ago, lasted about 2 months .
Amway is about as close to a pyramid scheme as it gets without technicaly being one.inquired about the work from home schemes using your computer but every one is multi level marketing, keep on hoping I'm going to find one that will pay me for surfing the internet>LOL

344035 2005-04-17 00:45:00 We've actually been Amway members for years. We came to the conclusion very early on that we are not born salesmen and won't make money doing it so never actually do anything with this "Great Opportunity". Non of our friends, family or wider community (except maybe the postman - and now you lot) know that we are members.

Why are we still members? They have a product that really suits our needs. The off-peak cellphone plan starts at 6pm (instead of Telecom's 7pm). The Amway group is apparently Telecom's largest customer which gives us this deal.

Now I don't know if this is the best deal around - maybe we're in our comfort zone and haven't looked further afield - but it suits us.

Would I join any pyramid scheme with the goal of making heaps of money? No. I know my strengths and weaknesses and selling things like this just ain't one of my strengths!

This doesn't make the schemes (except the illegal ones) wrong - just not right for everyone. If your strengths include being more than capable of selling air-conditioning systems to Eskimoes then maybe Amway is right for you - they have (if I remember correctly) good training which, even if they don't make a fortune in Amway itself may help with your other ventures.

I'd say ignore the hype and the "get rich quick" goal and see if a scheme suits you. Do they have a product that you want to use? Will the training help you in other ways - perhaps with a business of your own, getting a sales job? Does this particular enterprise suit your own lifestyle and goals?

344036 2005-04-21 15:25:00 I don’t believe they are scams. The trick is to be really persistent with these schemes, they dont work on people who give up quickly. I have participated in several of them and received what i put into them.

Hate to promote but whatever. A new one of these is pretty amazing this company will pay you .02 for [Edit: not really interested].

Check it out [Edit: URL removed]

And be persistent.
