| 648863 | 2008-03-12 10:04:00 | I've been asked a few times lately who to buy a new custom built computer from in ChCh . The ones I have looked at online so far offer pre-configured systems which are probably OK but I'm not sure what the story is if customers want Win XP instead of Vista or their old hard drive installed as a slave . Some shops also install trial versions of Office and NOD which probably won't be wanted and will have to be uninstalled . It would be better if they weren't put on in the first place . Has anyone got any fairly recent experience with buying a system from a PC shop in ChCh? |

| 648865 | 2008-03-12 20:29:00 | I have had three custom computers made by AID Computers, 123 Blenheim Road. One of them was a pre-configured system for my daughter (ASUS?ACER?), but the other two were made up to my specs. One of them is now like George Washington's axe because over the years the case, power supply, drives, increased RAM, OS, and MOB have all been changed! However, all of those things have been done according to my wishes and with their advice (in some cases I have made the changes myself, but swapping the MOB was way beyond my skills). They have also serviced my pc's when I have been flummoxed. I can't recall how many years I have been a customer of AID Computers (at least 5 years), but I have nothing but good to say about them. I have no grounds for comparison with other pc builders because I have only used this firm, but their prices seem to be reasonable to me. Ph 03-964 2215. They are really pleasant people to deal with too, which helps. I am not a shareholder/owner and don't get commission from them! |

| 648867 | 2008-03-12 22:01:00 | I just got a new one built by Stephen at http://www.brightstarpc.co.nz which are in the Waimakariri area, and have only had a couple of little glitches that they have come and sorted straight away. They are very reasonably priced, and if you email them asking for a quote, after telling them what you want installed, they are prompt with replies. | supergran (108) | ||

Its not going to be a pricespy. |
