346029 2005-04-17 12:42:00 When is it acceptable? or is it acceptable to lie? a white lie, a little lie or lying by ommission?

Lying . . . . . . . . . to not hurt that loved one? or lying to get yourself out of the crap?

to save yourself from a legal problem?

or is it a case of he said . . . . . . . . . she said . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and never the twain shall meet?
does lying start little and escalate over time . . . . . . become habit?
to save the grief for someone else?

lying and denial go hand in hand dont they?

and no its not me . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

346030 2005-04-17 13:09:00 White lie comes in when you need to tell someone something not true in order to give them good benefit, in terms that they won't get into serious trouble if they knew the true facts or traumatised by it. It is perfectly acceptable to say a white lie, but not overwhelmingly. Cheers :) Renmoo (66)
346031 2005-04-17 22:31:00 It is certainly justified when She Who Must Be Obeyed asks you "Do you think this makes my bum look too big?" :)

I am not sure I could formulate a general rule beetle!

346032 2005-04-17 22:37:00 We tell white lies hourly, and they are necessary for the smooth functioning of our relationships with other people.

"Do you like me in this dress?"

"Have you remembered to pick up the drycleaning?"

"Did you like my new recipe?"

"What do you think of my hair?"

"Don't you think John Tamahere is a really good guy?"

There is research on the topic. The issue is whether an untruth will cause harm. It is a moral judgement.

346033 2005-04-18 02:58:00 So youre saying that to the person you most love in the world and wouldnt want to hurt at all . . . . . . . . . . . . for any reason . . . . . . . . but you lie to her????
or him ?

Does anyone really gain from lying?

I can understand a child lying, but an adult that knows the ramifications and consequences of his actions / lying the point is?

Is it a scape goat . . . . . or i lie enuf and she will say go? or not ever talk to me again?

and no its not me im talking about .

Is it best to say nothing? or say thats a lie?

liar liar pants on fire . . . . .

346034 2005-04-18 03:09:00 For some a "Lie is a Lie" regardless, for others "The truth hurts". A "white lie" is a lie that causes no harm. Also leaving out all of the truth can be seen as lying by some (An art developed by politicians).

This is one of many of life's lessons.

or is it acceptable to lie?No
a white lie, a little lie or lying by ommission?

Lying .........to not hurt that loved one? If they cant handle the truth, not your problem. eg.Its not that that makes your bum look fat, it was fat before you started.
or lying to get yourself out of the crap?Only gets you in deeper

346038 2005-04-18 04:30:00 So youre saying that you know this because its been done by you / to you / or youve seen the results of this . . . . . . . . . . . . ?

What goes around comes around dont they say?

At this stage I have bite the tongue mode, as they couldnt handle the truth . . . . .

Which for me not saying anything is huge . . . . . . . . . . . .

oh what a wicked web we weave, when they decieve . . . . . .
