649542 2008-03-23 06:00:00 Try xnet.co.nz, except for a glitch this a.m. for about 20 minutes, everything is fine for the last month.

And its cheap... and no bloody restrictions on contract!
Love xnet!

649543 2008-03-23 06:17:00 i can get 500 kB/s off rapidshare all the time regardless of the time of day. ihug here .

what's your synch speed, if its dropped dramatically, it may be a line problem between yourself and the local cabinet

649544 2008-03-24 05:23:00 synch speed ? where do i check that ? on the router status ?

friends from other town on orcon reported no problem so i suppose its my line but how the hell the line is full speed with NZ traffic and bad with overseas trafic ?

On speedtest.net i get:

with Auckland as server:
-DL = ~4000 kbps
-UP = ~130 kbps

with Los Angeles as server:
-DL = ~90 kbps
-UP = ~120 kbps

im lost, ill ask them to check my line otherwise ill have to switch to XNET i suppose.

649545 2008-03-24 05:26:00 Also to avoid rapidshare being slow..i tested it with all sorts of servers. Even speedtest.net page takes ages to load that flash interface. ableton (8802)
649546 2008-03-24 08:00:00 LOL mines just getting worse with Orcon. National traffic is still fine at just over 4000kbs but international's still crawling at 78kbs down and 130up(Sydney), it takes 2 mins just to load the www.speedtest.net page. I have to say also, that it has only got this bad since I switched from a 5gig capped plan to the 20 gig zero shock plan. I think Orcon might be limiting international traffic on purpose! I cant watch any videos on youtube anymore, they take about 30 mins to load grrrrrr BAD ORCON Reply to my emails and sort out yr sh*t

Ps, Im into my 3rd billing day of the month so they cant blame excessive usage cos Ive downloaded nothing so far lol.

649547 2008-03-24 08:51:00 i think ur damn rite..i think they r restricting/shaping the international speed on our "zeroshock" plan ableton (8802)
649548 2008-03-24 10:15:00 Really? slingshot is like always 356 kilobits per seconds on nz servers and 256 kilobits per second on international servers like Los Angles (can't spell...) its quite fast in sydney too. SPARTAN 860 (2618)
649549 2008-03-25 07:27:00 Well we abused them over the phone today even telling them that we wont pay any bill till they sort it out.
Guess what ?! They sort of admited their fault saying "...it a problem with the plan" LOL that basically means they are limiting the international traffic on our plan (zeroshock) .

Will see if they fix it tomorrow.

649550 2008-03-26 10:13:00 Yeah, I called them at 9pm on Monday night and the guy said he'd taken way more calls than usual for slow speed and suspected there was a problem, he siad he'd inform the tech's on Tuesday. I also sent a friendly and slightly sarcastic email (about how it must just be affecting me cos they havent posted anything on their status page) to the help desk last night, and yet again, still no reply. lol stupid dogs! 649551 2008-03-26 21:22:00 If your expecting them to do what you'd expect, expect to be disappointed.

You need to expect much less than you think you should expect, that way you won't be disappointed, and will be expecting to be waiting on the phone with tech support for over 45 mins.
