346063 2005-04-18 05:05:00 My guess is that as long as greedy users aren't causing problems to the ISP by putting the total bandwidth being used close to the limits, many people will get away with it. I guess that a list would be maintained (automatically) of those who exceed their limit. Then human decision making comes into action. If someone's name appears on the list too often, they'll get capped. If someone goes over the limit once, or occasionally, they won't. If the human is in a grumpy mood, everyone on the list might be capped. ;)

As the numbers of users increases, there must come a point where capping is applied automatically. Because that will enable the supplier to provide the contracted service without buying more bandwidth. Bandwidth is not free. It's not even cheap.

346064 2005-04-18 05:23:00 It is off-shore.... Ive got a mate in Japan who's getting a 4mbps connection down, 1mbps upload, for what we worked out is roughly what we're paying currently :( Chilling_Silence (9)
346065 2005-04-18 05:27:00 Unless someone knows what the cost is to Telecom its all hot air and nothing else anyway, But i would imagine the price they pay is not relative to what we pay.

Besides, what is cheap? relative to what?

Does anyone know the profit margin telescum work to?....100%, 200% , 300%?????

346066 2005-04-18 05:54:00 My bet is if it costs Telecom 10c it will cost us $10 Rob99 (151)
346067 2005-04-18 06:26:00 Just to put you all right about this we aim for around 300% on infrastrural and operational (combined) costs. It's pretty easy. We dominate and can use our size to, we like to say, "rationalise" the market.

The boss doesn't get 1 Mill a year because she works for it, we get paid what we can afford. And that's very generous - thank you all very much.

End of Commuication.

End of Commuication. Can I ask why as a "Telecom Spokesperson" you are not posting with your full correct name and not an alias? This sort of makes me think you have no right to represent Telecom as a spokesperson, if indeed you do actually even work for them.
