Why should their justice system be different from ours? The police look for easy convictions, and no dought lie or emit truth and obvious questions to achieve this, just as some of ours have done at times when things dont seem so easy after all. ---Tourist ---Has drugs hidden in personal property ---20 years ---Very tidy! Everyone happy! (except the tourist, but thats unimportant, as they don't know her from a pinch of ****) |

(except the tourist, but thats unimportant, as they don't know her from a pinch of ****) Their justice system is not anything like ours. It is based on the French and Dutch systems, and is drawn from their colonial history in the region. The French system is very very different, and reflects the French national character rather well. I don't know about the Dutch system, but if it is similarly reflective of their character it would be a very weird system for sure. Not that it matters, drug dealers are not worth a pinch of **** in any jurisdiction. Nothing like a deterrent sentence to wake up some stupid aussie tourists, and if they execute some of the other lot that will shake them up even more. It strains credibility beyond breaking point to suggest that you could secrete 4.5 kg of dope in a boogie board bag and not know it was there. She'd be a body begging for a brain if she didn't notice the bulge or the change in weight. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 345322 | 2005-05-31 08:25:00 | It strains credibility beyond breaking point to suggest that you could secrete 4.5 kg of dope in a boogie board bag .....yeah but it also strains credibility that someone would bother to import weed to indonesia from oz when they'd be losing money on the deal cause weed is MUCH cheaper in indonesia than oz and they'd be risking the death sentence to do so.......how utterly unbelieveable is that ? | drcspy (146) | ||
| 345323 | 2005-05-31 09:00:00 | It doesn't strain credibility to say she wouldn't have made a profit. She and her mates would have been selling good quality Oz pot to the Ozzie beach bums in Kuta because they do not like the local poor quality stuff and are scared of the Bali sting operatations that are sometimes set up. They would have got rid of 4kg in no time and probably kept a bit for themselves. Unfortunately for her she was probably the good looking one her mates thought could swan her way through customs. | Dally (6292) | ||
| 345324 | 2005-05-31 09:07:00 | Find that hard to believe Dally. Why not sell it in Oz? Profits just as good. Risks considerably less. | mark c (247) | ||
| 345325 | 2005-05-31 09:20:00 | I think they wanted some for their own us and stupid people do stupid things. but you make a good and valid point. Doesn't the same argument apply to the mystery baggage handlers? | Dally (6292) | ||
| 345326 | 2005-05-31 09:50:00 | I saw the size of the flaming bag on TV tonight. There is no way on God's earth she wouldn't know there was something in there besides the boogie board and her fervent prayers for a smooth run through customs. As to why she would import dope to Indonesia, a body begging for a brain wouldn't even realise how incongruous that was. I bet the Customs guys wet themselves laughing after they turned her over to the Feds. I reckon she'll be up for sucker of the year come December 31st, especially after the "save our local idiot" campaign dies down and she adjusts to her new life inside. Funny thing is, she can probably get all the dope she wants inside at a fraction of Aussie prices. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
