| 649505 | 2008-03-14 22:42:00 | Hi Guys When trying to load Linux from any live CD I manage to see the initial screen to select boot from live CD, boot in safe graphics mode....... But once I've selected one of these option the screen goes blank and comes up no signal input, causing it to sleep. Have tried multiple distros. Have tried booting in safe graphics mode. Computer Specs: AMD X2 4000+ ASUS M2N-MX SE 2GB DDR2 667 Gigabyte 8600GT GV-NX86T256H Monitor: AOC 19" 193FW+ Anybody know how I can get this to load correctly? :thanks |

| 649506 | 2008-03-14 23:02:00 | What happens if you use the kernel boot argument 'vga=792'? This mode is supported by almost every graphics chipset manufactured in the last decade, and should allow the system console to display correctly. Oh and don't use 'safe graphics mode', this doesn't normally do much and can sometimes just break things even more. X is another matter, let's get the console visible first. |

| 649507 | 2008-03-14 23:07:00 | Can't tell you how to fix it, but can say whats causing it - Its Linux not being able to work with your graphic card - on board graphics are usually fine . I have had this same thing happen almost every time - If I removed the Graphic Card and run with the Mother Boards integrated Graphics it loads perfectly . Looked at lots of Linux Help places and they all say use the safe graphics or VGA I think they call it - Have seen use a command prompt - bit hard when nothing on screen, and the card I'm using is only a FX 5200 - when that doesn't work no one appears to be interested in suppling a working answer . |

| 649511 | 2008-03-14 23:54:00 | watch the screen on bootup it say somthing like "press f4 for boot options" enter that line Bletch gave you when the prompt appears. That card is supported by the way as Bletch has stated |

| 649512 | 2008-03-15 01:20:00 | What I'm trying to boot from is a standard Ubuntu 7.10 x64 live CD When I press F6 for more options I get a command line saying Boot Options and a whole string. I've tried entering vga=792 at the end of the string it has made no difference. |

| 649514 | 2008-03-15 01:50:00 | Stormdragon how old is the Live CD you are using - the reason for asking is I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 when it first came out - (twice) and it didn't work as I mentioned above. I have just re -downloaded it again today burnt the ISO and bugger me - it booted with no problems - in fact I'm posting from the live CD right now. :illogical Shown Here Live CD (www.imagef1.net.nz)The page layout is all off center - all on the right of the screen but working. Other Distros are still giving problems - and I have looked and cant find the option to load the VGA=792 command. - Still like to get that sorted. |
