650224 2008-03-17 10:08:00 Hi
This MS ComfortCurve 2000 KB worked fine at work on an old IBM ThinkCentre PC.
Brought it home to replace an aging MS Multimedia KB (Both are wired) and it will not resume from suspend or start the pc from scratch.
BIOS set to S3; Power settings set for "Allow this device to bring...out of standby" etc
Tried in different USB ports; Even tried in a PS2 port with an adapter! Reinstalled software with latest drivers etc.
MS Multimedia KB resumed on any key without any problems
Run XP Pro; AMD 64 X2 4200; 2GB Ram

No joy and very frustrating
Anyone help please?

650225 2008-03-17 19:52:00 How do you currently bring it out of Standby? By pressing the power button on the PC Case?
Are there seperate buttons on the device for "wake up" / The Sun, or just a "sleep" / Moon button?

650226 2008-03-17 22:22:00 There may be a jumper on the motherboard to allow the USB to receive 5v standby power, that needs to be set to enabled. Agent_24 (57)

No separate buttons on the device for "wake up" / The Sun, or just a "sleep" / Moon button etc but by assigning "sleep" (Setsuspendstate etc) to the calculator button, that key works the same way

Previous keyboard had a sleep button, was PS2 and tat worked ok - clattery keys though!

Also works ok from a simple old KB using PS2 connection

650228 2008-03-18 01:29:00 There will be a BIOS setting that will allow USB in DOS, make sure that is enabled.

Also, check for the APM / Wake settings in the BIOS. Chances are there is a configuration in there :)

650229 2008-03-18 01:48:00 yes, check wake by USB is enabled, and as I said before, there may be a jumper to allow the USB to get standby voltage also. Agent_24 (57)

Thanks guys
However I'm certain BIOS settings ok
They were ok for the old KB and now I have S3 enabled; Resume from USB enabled, Wake with KB - any key;

Will look at the manual tonight regarding jumpers but I'm a little apprehensive about playing about with those!

Any other ideas most welcome

Would XP Sp3 provide a fix??

Thanks again

Don't think it would have anything to do with Windows, as Windows would not be running at the time of attempting to wake up only loads after initial wake.

650232 2008-03-18 06:33:00 If you've enabled the option in your BIOS and you've set windows to wake up then the only other things I can think of that it could be is a jumper or your BIOS code is faulty and your motherboard maker has released a fix, with a note probably reading something along the lines of:

"Fix wakeup from USB keyboard fail"

(with maybe a little more engrish)

Got the model number of your motherboard there? should be easy to find out if either of those are the cause
