650186 2008-03-17 06:11:00 Evening all,

Having a spot of bother at the moment, trying to get a 29" CRT TV working with the RGB out on the graphics card, and running Vista. (It worked fine on XP). I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed.

I would use S-Video, but the TV is missing that input for some stupid reason (not a panasonic fan). :p And the only S-video to RCA adaptors I can find are the 7 pin versions, not the 4 pin I need to go with the graphics card.

So all well and good, connect it up, I can get colour etc working during BIOS post and bootup, but the moment windows starts, all display goes away.

Check in the Nvidia Control Panel, and sure enough, the RGB output is set to HDTV, at 1080p.

If I select auto detect, it comes up as composite and sends a signal the TV can understand, but it's black and white. I have tried almost all of the different settings, and cannot for the life of me get it working in colour.

Anybody got any ideas, or a configuration that works?

Cheers. :thanks

650187 2008-03-17 06:17:00 Im not an expert on tv cables, but have you tried using a DVI cable to the tv? SPARTAN 860 (2618)
650188 2008-03-17 06:27:00 I had thought of that - but was unable to find the right cable available in NZ.

I will dig a bit deeper for one, do you have a link?

This (www.bhphotovideo.com l) would be ideal, Neil - but I can't find the equivilant in NZ. :(

650189 2008-03-17 06:31:00 For output options on the PC I have Component Video (RGB) and 4 pin S-Video.

Input options on the TV are Component Video (RGB) and A/V RCA.

I am more than happy to use a S-Video to RCA adapter - but I can't find a 4 pin one. (Or any adapter that works and doesn't noticeably degrade the signal quality for that matter.)

Any other suggestions are welcomed, I'd like to get this working without buying any other cables, and simply cause it should work, but if thats what it's gonna take... :(

650192 2008-03-17 08:38:00 Usually a B&W picture means that it is set to the wrong TV format. NTSC or something.
There should be an option in the nVidia control panel to set it to New Zealand or PAL B/G.

Thats what I thought too - tried Pal, NTSC, and all combinations I can find of both.
