| 348247 | 2005-04-25 10:31:00 | Well, the answer to the question is "Dardanella". This was composed in 1919 by Felix Bernard and Johnny Black, with words by Fred Fisher. The tune was made popular by the Ben Selvin Orchestra who made the first recording of it in November 1919, and it was a hit for many years, and can still be heard today from time to time. However, the version I like is the Paul Whiteman Orchestra in 1928, with Bix Beiderbecke playing a cornet solo. www.redhotjazz.com |
