650015 2008-03-17 01:05:00 How much ram is in it??

Did you put the hdd by itself on Master, on the primary IDE connection?

Did you go through the BIOS and reconfigure whatever?

650017 2008-03-17 01:31:00 Did you install the drivers?

I think these are the drivers for XP (h10025.www1.hp.com)

Did you use the recovery partition to reinstall XP, or did u use another XP CD?

Does it show any errors on the post screen?? I think this is where its stopping

I dont think you have to wait to go past the post screen, pressing F1 I think it is should get u in the BIOS

650018 2008-03-17 01:40:00 Did you install the drivers?
- I really don't think it got that far... (sorry was working on other computers at the same time)

- use another XP CD

Does it show any errors on the post screen??

650019 2008-03-17 01:54:00 booted from the cd
started the standard installation process from the cd... installing drivers etc...
then it stated "Setup is starting Windows"
instead it cycled back to Welcome to Windows setup.
and started the installation process over from formatting....???

650020 2008-03-17 03:13:00 Have you run memtest86 on it?

Sounds like it could maybe have a fault with the ram?

650021 2008-03-17 04:10:00 affirmative on memtest - no problems NZHawk (4093)
650022 2008-03-17 04:11:00 If you've already installed XP, take the cd out and change the bootdisk in the BIOS to the hdd.

If you leave the cd in it'll keep booting from the cd (and everytime u press a key, while the cd is in the cd), it'll take u to to the setup /install screen.

You will be going round in circles FOREVER.
