| 650324 | 2008-03-17 23:02:00 | Hi all, as the title says, I'm trying to compare the data in 2 different Excel spreadhseets. Basically we have 2 mailing lists which are in spreadsheet format. What's happened is 1 spreadsheet has been update by one group of people and the other by another group of people. I want to compare the 2 and then compile a new list based on the data from the existing spreadsheets minus the duplicates of course. Thanks in advance, Cheers, |

The two lists have to be in the same format, type in the vlookup function in a cell beside the name, source data is the other list and the last criteria you MUST use is "FALSE". | 650329 | 2008-03-18 08:25:00 | Hi I'm not sure how much data you have to compare, but there is a standard menu option available in Excel to compare two workbooks - open both and then select menu option Window > Compare Side By Side > you can then have both scrolling at the same time (see also Window > Arrange > Vertical) and visually compare the data. You can even turn off the scrolling feature if they get out of sync and then turn it back on etc. If the data is too long then you can use lookup functions or import to Access as has been suggested.
