2008-03-17 06:03:00 | Can someone look at this log and advise please? Not my PC but owner says they are having a lot of trouble with IE and while I've been using it there seems to be a lot of "Not responding" messages when trying to do something. (New window, open a file etc). Its hooked up to my broadband connection at the moment, but I had to install Firefox to be usable on the internet. ( Well, it locked up twice trying to get into Press F1 using IE, I may be a bit impatient as its not mine) Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 6:45:22 p.m., on 17/03/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16608) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\brsvc01a.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\brss01a.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\ConfigFree\CFSvcs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\DVDRAMSV.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\E-KEY\CeEKey.exe C:\Program Files\Apoint2K\Apoint.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TouchPad\TPTray.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\ConfigFree\NDSTray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Tvs\TvsTray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TPSMain.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoomingHook.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Zooming Utility\SmoothView.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TPSBattM.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Touch and Launch\PadExe.exe C:\WINDOWS\AGRSMMSG.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\TCtrlIOHook.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Controls\TFncKy.exe C:\Program Files\Apoint2K\Apntex.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe C:\WINDOWS\JFaxMailNTHelper.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.2\Apps\apdproxy.exe C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE4.0\OpwareSE4.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wfxsnt40.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\PCSuite\DataLayer\DataLayer.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tools\NclTray.exe C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\PaperPort\pptd40nt.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\PCSuite\Services\ServiceLayer.exe C:\Program Files\Brother\ControlCenter2\brctrcen.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSCDSPD\toscdspd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNo tifier.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe C:\Program Files\Brother\Brmfcmon\BrMfcWnd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxsrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = g.xtramsn.co.nz R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = g.xtramsn.co.nz R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://my.safeappsoftware.com/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = go.microsoft.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = go.microsoft.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = go.microsoft.com R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = go.microsoft.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = g.xtramsn.co.nz R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! | 650118 | 2008-03-17 06:29:00 | Google Updater is on your system, along with AVG and symantec, Symantect are the people who made Norton, so try and get rid of them (I would wait for speedy's advice though) | SPARTAN 860 (2618) | |

2008-03-17 07:03:00 | Yeah. They told me they had loaded norton(which I personally hate) and I was going to tell them they shouldn't really have two anti virus programs going at the same time(or so I believe). From the look of it they have loaded a lot of programs to try and fix things (some good, some nuisance ones trying to make a sale). Hopefully Speedy or someone equally talented (if possible,...did I see something in a mag about an award?;) ) can check the log for nasties. | bones (10257) | |

2008-03-17 07:10:00 | Thanks Speedy. The JFaxMail thing I don't know about but there was a lot of invalid shared dll links removed by CCleaner relating to WinFax and an error message on startup about Winfax. I'm guessing something else was uninstalled and they just removed all the shared components and clobbered Winfax as well. | bones (10257) | |
2008-03-17 07:12:00 | Hmm ok, well if Winfax isnt working or its bringing up errors on startup about it. You might as well uninstall it, or uninstall it, then reinstall it. Altho I cant remember JFaxMailNTHelper.exe being part of Winfax Did u uninstall Winfax?? It sounds like you deleted its folder, and forgot to uninstall it

Winfax is not installed at the moment but Wtnsetup.exe is in the error message at startup so maybe it was at some stage. Now, how to stop that error message. Google says JFax is part of Black Ice printer driver? Might delete those entries as well. Black Ice is a firewall I think?(Not on this system) ....ah...just googled it, also a fax program. |
