650094 2008-03-17 00:35:00 I been coming here for info for along time and have always been able to fix my problems but Im in to deep now. My problem started a few days ago when I would try & open IE I would get an error message saying Explorer has caused an error in shell32.dll. When I clicked close and red streak would pop up & go off at the bottom of my screen. It would not close IE but it would give me the RESTORE my active desktop on my screen. When I reboot it seems to work for awhile then it starts back. I d/l and ran hijackthis but I have no idea what im looking at & was hoping you guys could help me out so I dont have to reformat. Thx for Looking.
Here is the log from hjack

650095 2008-03-17 00:44:00 Looks ok to me.

But I would uninstall all versions of Sun Java. Yours is out of date. Update is in my sig.

Disable that Popup stopper. See if it crashes then.

If you want else besides that program, you could try this (http://www.ie7pro.com/)

I think it works in IE 6 and ME.

And try disabling Superantispyware

650096 2008-03-17 06:08:00 You know, IE 6 and ME are long dead products, so theres bound to be lots of problems that are unfixed, so my advice is generally get a new pc. SPARTAN 860 (2618)

Not generally much help with the problem the guy is asking about tho, is it.

and up to last month 30.7 % still use IE6 (long dead???) (22% IE7)

from here (www.w3schools.com)

I have windows 98 on one machine & it runs as sweet as a new timex. At least for what I use it for. I cant see :badpc: when I can fix it & use it.

Unfixed problems? If you are referring to Security then you're mad to expect MS to be taking care of that for you. Thats why we have firewalls, and anti-malware programs.

Made by people other than MS.

The idea of this site is to help people FIX there problems, regardless what O/S they choose to use. Its not hard..........
