Is there anywhere or any how I can get the free copy or has MS closed that facility? there were reports of the free upgrade still working after the deadline, not sure if that is still the case. try it & see , download the older ISO & use the Win7 install key : might have to do a clean install ? |

Just go through the whole installation of Windows 10 skipping the entering of the product key, and once the install is complete then go and activate it using the Windows 7 key. Just be sure you install the version of Windows 10 (Home or Pro) to match the Windows 7 license you have. |

As mentioned above, wiped drive clean installed Windows 10 Home, when it came to enter Product key, used the W7 key, accepted / installed, a few minutes after it finished, checked and it had activated fine. Never had W10 anywhere near it previously. They wanted W10 but if it didn't work they would be quite happy to have me reinstall W7. |
